About the book:

‘A Certain Degree of Magnificence’ traces the landscape history of Bedfordshire, highlighting the impact individuals have had on the countryside – whether they worked the land to make a living or simply improved the landscape. The chapters trace Bedfordshire’s history from the most recent ice age to the present, covering the invasions of the Romans and Danes, the arrival of the plague in the Middle Ages, and enclosure in the eighteenth century. The landowners and landscape gardeners feature, such as Capability Brown and Humphry Repton. ‘

Author Nigel Lesmoir Gordon sends launches new book

Although not with Eventispress we would like to congratulate Nigel Lesmoir Gordon on the launch of his memoir ‘Behind Open Doors’

This is Nigel’s email to us:

“The launch went swimmingly, Diana. We had a full house, which included Rupert Sheldrake, Anthony Stern, David Cammell, my brother and his wife and Mike Horovitz. Also many other old Cambridge friends and some new ones.

A jolly fine time was had by all and the books flew off the table.”

Behind Open Doors ~ Nigel Lesmoir Gordon’s Biography~ Book Launch

Author Nigel Lesmoir Gordon is launching his biography, compiled by Ingrid Maclean. It tells the story of Nigel’s colourful life as a young man fully immersed in flower power age of the 1960’s right up to the present.
